twitter  spam threat Spammers have always been finding new ways to harvest email ids from various places from internet including forums, social bookmarking and networking sites, etc to flood peoples inboxes with spams and viruses. Twitter, the micro-blogging giant has now become the spammer’s heaven to extract email ids of twitter users. The recently implemented Twitter Search has become the potentially exploit allowing spammers the get user’s email ids in masses.

The great Google collapse

google error How many of us can imagine a day without Google ? Web users have already given a taste of life without Google last night as the Internet Search Engine giant experienced some serious technical problems which took them out of service for couple of hours. Lot of bloggers have already dubbed this incident as ‘Great Google Failure 2009’, ‘GoogleFail’, 5/14 etc. Google experienced a similar failure sometime back in February which was popularly mocked as Gfail. Popular Google services including Google Search, Gmail, YouTube, Google News either performed sluggishly or unavailable to users from Europe and US affecting millions.

Refine your search with Google Wonder Wheel

blogging-wonder-wheel Google has unveiled new Aussie-developed search technology that makes it easier to find answers to queries when users are not sure about what they are looking for. The new “Wonder Wheel” option has been included in the results page with the search options link. This new wonder wheel allows user to view forums, video and review related to the search or displaying pages updated in the last 24 hours, week or later. The new Google search options were officially announced at the at the Searchology event on 12th of May.

Google rolls out star gazing app for Android phones

sky-map-prototype Google Earth is now getting better by allowing users to identify stars and planets in the sky during night user their Android-powered mobile phone using a Google application. The application for Android was initially said to be named as Star Droid which uses the camera in your mobile but Google Official Blog mentions it as Google Sky Map and it doesn’t use the camera. Google Sky Map turns your Android-powered mobile phone into a dynamic window on the night sky. The new Google Sky Map technology makes use of the Android’s GPS systems to identify the position of the user and compares this with existing maps of space. The application then automatically attaches name tags to the stars, planets and constellations through a specially constructed map giving you a whole new sky mapping experience.
