Still you remember Cuil?
Cuil, an Irish word meaning knowledge was launched this June 2008 by ex-Google guys and IBM engineers. Cuil claims that it can search more pages on the Web than anyone else—three times as many as Google and ten times as many as Microsoft. Cuil has 120 billion page indexed at the time of launch. Cuil search results are not based on the popularity or pagerank of the site and the results will be completely based on webpage content.

The biggest advantage of Google is popularity and is considered as one of the reliable service ever in the world of Internet. But by the way Cuil presents its information to the users is very nice in comparison with Google but may be slightly slower. The one beautiful feature I like with Cuil is the related search suggestions given in the form of ‘Explore by Category’ and in the form of tabs as shown in the snapshot above.

But personally when i tried to find information I find sometimes it takes bit longer time to land in the right page. Also since Cuil just looks into webpage content rather than looking in to popularity it may take little bit more time to land in the right page. Cuil search preferences to filter out pornographic and other objectionable features along with typing suggestions are pretty ordinary compared to Google. Also it lacks the spell check options and as of now Cuil is available only in English as of now. Months after the launch Cuil remains good but stands pretty low when it comes to popularity and usage and it doesn’t really pose a threat to Google. But it is worth trying it for sure.
