eBay Australia becomes PayPal only
eBay Australia becomes PayPal only which is considered as one of the preferred online payment methods, reports MX Australia, the free magazine for commuters. The changes are expected to come into effect after 17th June 2008 and any transaction made after that can be done only through cash or by PayPal only. Transactions for users who pay by credit card will be processed by PayPal so they don’t have to join PayPal. All transactions made on or after 21 May 2008 must offer PayPal as one of the payment methods says eBay and the payment will be restricted to cash, PayPal and Credit Card via PayPal after 17th June.
PayPal Australia makes these changes in order to get rid of disputes during the transactions and it believes this change will reduce the transaction dispute between seller and buyer, in comparison with using a bank account, cheque etc. It also confirms transactions made during the year 2007 using PayPal were unlikely to get into disputes. This avoids sharing of transactional details between buyer and seller and PayPal facilitates a secure transaction online. Users who purchase on or after June 17th will be entitled for PayPal Buyer Protection up to $20,000 AUD. eBay is also planning to host training workshops online for the benefit of buyers and sellers later in April and May.
