firegpg-firefox-plugin Security of emails have become so important as sensitive emails through network is considered as highly insecured as eavesdropping is always possible through any network with data that is not encrypted. Packet sniffing is always possible through any insecured network and mail sent with plain text can always be dangerous these days. Most of us are least bothered about encrypting emails for our personal usage and encrypting emails can even save you if somebody knows your inbox password as your messages are encrypted. PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) is one of the popular techniques used to encrypt messages. FireGPG is a very simple utility which uses Gnu PGP in conjunction with GMail to encrypt and decrypt your emails.

An introduction to PGP

GPG is an open source implementation of open PGP  using a technique called Public Key Encryption (PKE). FireGPG is a Firefox plug-in which acts as an interface to GPG functions and integrates with Gmail to run GPG functions on emails.  To use FireGPG one need to download and install GnuPG for Windows in their PC first. There is a very good video tutorial from irongeek.com about Using GPG/PGP/FireGPG to Encrypt and Sign Email from Gmail which will guide you how to secure your email messages. Please see the below given screenshot to see an encrypted mail using FireGPG.
