Gmail’s introduces ‘move-to’ feature for label

gmail-label Launched in 2004 as invitation-only beta, Gmail has come through a long way by adding revolutionary features like increased free storage, integrating chat into your inbox etc but it still lagged in some basic easy-to-use features. Label is one such feature that was under scrutiny unlike the easy to use Folder features with other email services which is quite easier to use. Google now has now introduced a new way to label by introducing move-to feature which will help the users to move an email out of your inbox and into a label.

Shortcut for Gmail Label

Gmail Auto-complete for labels Google has removed the  older bugging way of moving an email out of your inbox  into a label by applying the label using the "More actions" menu and then click "Archive." Lot of users were not even aware of this feature as it is not presented in a user friendly way in the Gmail interface. Now all you need to do is click on "Move to" button to label and archive in a single step just like you do with a folder.  Google now by changing the way it was before becomes more easy to use and will definitely attract more users. Other features include,

  • Auto-complete feature in the label search which will be helpful when you tend to select a label from a huge list of labels.
  • Keyboard shortcuts: v for "Move to" and l (lowercase L) for "Labels." Keyboard shortcuts must be turned on to use this feature. This helps you to add and remove labels without touching your mouse.

Google is rolling out this change on a batch by batch basis so it will not be enabled for everybody  but will be available to everyone soon. Keep watching guys.
