Google betters search results with Eye-tracking studies
Google Search launched in 1997 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin is the most widely used and reliable search engine one can find in the Internet. Google Search is the most preferred search engine ahead of all others just because it is simple, fast, reliable and user-friendly. Google takes lot of steps and efforts like such as interviews, field studies and live experiments to give the users and customers a better product with maximum benefits. Eye-tracking studies is one such effort from Google to design a subtle user interface in scanning the search results which gives users relevant and helpful information without getting in the way of their primary task: finding relevant information.
Eye-tracking data collected in real-time will tell how the user scanned the page and what order the scan the search results. Google has created a heat map which shows the activity of 34 usability study participants scanning a typical Google results page. The end results suggest that Google search results are successful and users are able to find what they were looking for among the first two results and they never needed to go further down the page. Google also uses eye-tracking studies to study the usability of other products, such as Google News and Image Search.
