How to create tables in Microsoft Word using just the Keyboard?

word_table Most of the Internet users must be familiar about creating tables in Microsoft word and its not a tough job too. The usual way to create table in Word is just by using ‘Tables and Borders’ button or by using the ‘Insert Table’ button. Today I am gonna show some technique without using any menu from Microsoft Word and draw the table just by using the keyboard.

Now getting down to the trick, to draw a table just by using keyboard we need to use two symbols plus (+) and the minus (-) symbol. A column must start with plus (+) symbol and must end with a plus (+) symbol too. The number of minus (-) symbols between the two plus symbols determine the width of the table column.

  1. Open a new word document.

  2. Type +—————-+————–+—————-+ as shown in the above example and press ‘Enter’ key. Don’t worry about the number of minus(-) symbols between the plus (+) symbols. It just determines the width of the cell.

Now you can find a table with 3 columns whose width is controlled by the ‘-’ minus symbol. One can press tabs to extend the row of the column. The formatting and manipulating the table can be done in the usual way. Please give it a try and share it with your friends. Please leave your comments if you like this trick.
