How to unlock files in windows?
Almost everybody who uses Windows Operating System will happen to see the error, “Cannot delete file: Access is denied” at least once in a while. This error is pretty annoying and it is happening because the file or folder has been locked by one of windows process. Sometimes a system restart will help to get rid of the error but one cannot do that amidst work and in some rare cases even a restart will not help. I have come across a nice utility called Unlocker last week and thought of sharing it.
Unlocker, like the name suggests is a free file unlocking tool that will help you to unlock the files by just a mouse click by killing the process or by releasing the handles or the respective loaded DLL(Dynamic Link Library).
All one need to do is,
- Install the software
- Right click the folder or file and select Unlocker which will give the user a window listing all the process that locks the file or folder will appear.
- Click Unlock All and you are done now. You can also choose options like Delete, rename or Move to do the appropriate action after unlocking the file or folder.
Unlocker is really an awesome tool and really stands out in the competition in comparison with other tools available in the market. Unlocker works fine with Windows XP and Vista 32 bit version and the current version doesn’t support 64 bit Windows XP or Vista. You can read the Unlocker FAQ to know more about the capabilities of the tool.
