Google today sends email to all the users today updating about the new upcoming launch of interest-based advertising. Yesterday I wrote a post “Wary of smart web ads from Google“ about Google’s internet-based advertising, its features and people’s concern about privacy etc. Today Google has sent an official mail to all the Google Adsense users informing about the launch.
How many of us know Google is launching a new system to watch people’s interests which posts advertisements based on that? Yes, Google is giving users the power to choose the ads they see foraying itself into Online Behavioral Advertising. Google uses a cookie to track users interests based on what user browse or search over Internet to display Adsense ads by assigning the users to an appropriate category. Though Google has given options for users to customize the ads they see using Ads Preferences Manager lot of people have voiced concerns across the Globe against this.
How many people are checking their inbox today rather spending on social networking sites first? A survey from Nielsen Online says, 10% of time spent over Internet is spent over social networking sites and blog across the Globe. The research also claims Facebook as the world’s number one social networking site with 108.3 million users followed by MySpace with 81 million users, Classmates online with 19.7 million users and Orkut at the 4th place with 17.5 million users.
Search Engine has now become a integral part in our day-to-day life and Google occupies the premier position among all the search engines that exists in the planet. Google is always effective and successful in retrieving relevant search results from the world wide web based on keywords and can come with results only for questions that have been literally asked before. British physicist Stephen Wolfram has solved this problem by developing a new computational knowledge engine called Wolfram Alpha which is capable enough to answer any question.
An ethical hacker from HackersBlog today claimed that he was able to carry out a SQL injection attack successfully and has got access to the complete database to a popular UK daily, The Daily Telegraph. The site has also released snapshots of databases, passwords in clear text and email addresses of those receiving the newsletter which are highly sensitive.
