McAfee threat report reveals PCs turning into zombies

mcafee McAfee released its first quarter threat report last week on 5th of may has found that cyber criminals had taken control of almost 12 million new IP Addresses since last January which is a 50% increase since 2008. The report also revealed that United States is now the home to the largest percentage of botnet-infected computers, hosting 18% followed by China at the second position with 13%  and Australia at the third with 6% of all zombie machines.

Windows 7 RC set to expire with bi-hourly shutdowns

Windows 7 beta release Microsoft released Windows 7 RC day before yesterday and Hundreds of thousands of people have already downloaded Windows 7 Release candidate so far have given good review comments on blogs, message board posts and tweets which is lot better compared to Windows Vista. Microsoft has announced that the Windows 7 RC will be available to download at least till late June and Microsoft is also not limiting the number of product keys giving users enough time to download without any urge. Microsoft has learnt a lesson from the last fiasco which knocked the server down when Windows 7 beta was released last January for a limited period.

Windows 7 taskbar Microsoft releases free copies of Windows 7, its new operating system in a bid to win the disgruntled  Windows Vista users back. Microsoft is also expected to release Windows XP Mode, a compatibility tool to help users migrating from XP to Windows 7 with this release. Australian users can download Windows 7 RC from today and can use it free for a year. Windows 7 RC incorporates all the bug fixes  and feedbacks from the Windows 7  beta which was released sometime back.

Twitter compromised by a French hacker

twitter compromised Twitter is compromised for the second time in this year by a French Hacker under the handle Hacker Croll gaining administrative access to the Twitter’s employee account. He posted 13 screenshots of Twitter’s administrative console at a French online discussion forum. Twitter has officially confirmed the breach and it has been discovered that 10 individual accounts were viewed during this unauthorized access.
