Google rolls out star gazing app for Android phones

sky-map-prototype Google Earth is now getting better by allowing users to identify stars and planets in the sky during night user their Android-powered mobile phone using a Google application. The application for Android was initially said to be named as Star Droid which uses the camera in your mobile but Google Official Blog mentions it as Google Sky Map and it doesn’t use the camera. Google Sky Map turns your Android-powered mobile phone into a dynamic window on the night sky. The new Google Sky Map technology makes use of the Android’s GPS systems to identify the position of the user and compares this with existing maps of space. The application then automatically attaches name tags to the stars, planets and constellations through a specially constructed map giving you a whole new sky mapping experience.

Twitter search is gonna get deeper

twitter search Twitter is the most used micro-blogging service allows users to post status updates via browser, email or SMS and it can also be considered as a kind of social networking or public im service. Twitter rolled out its search functionality by end of April which allows users to search the text of Twitter posts. Now Twitter is planning to get much deeper by crawling into the links included in tweets and indexing the content of those pages.

McAfee threat report reveals PCs turning into zombies

mcafee McAfee released its first quarter threat report last week on 5th of may has found that cyber criminals had taken control of almost 12 million new IP Addresses since last January which is a 50% increase since 2008. The report also revealed that United States is now the home to the largest percentage of botnet-infected computers, hosting 18% followed by China at the second position with 13%  and Australia at the third with 6% of all zombie machines.
