Windows 7 RC set to expire with bi-hourly shutdowns

Windows 7 beta release Microsoft released Windows 7 RC day before yesterday and Hundreds of thousands of people have already downloaded Windows 7 Release candidate so far have given good review comments on blogs, message board posts and tweets which is lot better compared to Windows Vista. Microsoft has announced that the Windows 7 RC will be available to download at least till late June and Microsoft is also not limiting the number of product keys giving users enough time to download without any urge. Microsoft has learnt a lesson from the last fiasco which knocked the server down when Windows 7 beta was released last January for a limited period.

Microsoft has also confirmed that users can download and use Windows 7 Release Candidate for a year at least and they will be encouraged to upgrade to Windows 7 retail version from March 1, 2010 when the Windows 7 RC will begin to shut down every two hours. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010 and users will be notified you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns from March 1, 2010. Please follow the following steps to download and use Windows 7 RC without any hassle.

  • Go to Windows 7 RC official site to download your copy.
  • Use freeware ISO burning tools like ImgBurn, ISO Recorder to burn your copy to the DVD to create your own copy of Windows 7 installation DVD.
  • If you have Windows Vista SP1 running in your PC it is well and good. Otherwise you need VISTA for upgrade as you cannot upgrade from Windows XP, or from the earlier Beta 1 edition of Windows 7. Versions lower than Windows Vista including Windows XP need a complete installation which will wipe up your hard disk. So make sure that you backup your data.
